Generate a Random Minecraft Seed
Use the controls above when you want a numeric value for a fresh world.
Choose a number range, enter how many values you want, and select Generate seeds. Each result is shown as a plain decimal number. Copy one seed with its button, or copy the full list and paste a value into the seed field when creating a world.
The generator uses the browser's Web Crypto random-number API. It does not need an account, a world save, a Minecraft connection, or a request to a seed-generation endpoint. A random value is simply a starting input; it is not a rating of the terrain that Minecraft will create from it.
- Select the full signed 64-bit range or the compact positive range.
- Enter an integer from 1 through 10.
- Generate the list, then copy one value or all values.
- Try a different result if the first world does not suit you.
Choose a Seed Range
Both options return numeric seeds; they differ in length and sign, not in terrain quality.
The full option samples a signed 64-bit integer, from -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 through 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. This is the numeric range represented by a Java long. The compact option returns a positive integer from 1 through 999,999,999, which is easier to read, type, or share.
A shorter value is not more compatible or more likely to produce a useful spawn. Choose it for convenience. If you are following a guide for a particular edition or release, check that guide's seed-input instructions before starting the world.
| Option | Values returned | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Full signed 64-bit | -9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 | You want the broad numeric range used by Java long input. |
| Compact positive | 1 to 999,999,999 | You prefer a shorter number to enter or share. |
| Quantity | 1 to 10 values per run | You want several independent starting points to try. |
A Seed Generator Is Not a Seed Map
The words sound similar, but these tools answer different questions.
A seed generator gives you a new numeric input. A seed map takes a seed you already know and displays predicted terrain or structures for a selected game version. This page does not calculate coordinates, draw a world map, search a catalog of recommended seeds, or check whether a village is nearby.
If you already have a seed and want to plan a route to a village, see the Minecraft village guide for command, map, and exploration options. Check the map provider's edition and version settings before trusting displayed coordinates.
| Task | What you need | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Make a new random value | No existing seed | This Minecraft seed generator |
| Preview terrain or structures | A known seed and game version | A compatible seed map |
| Find a world's current seed | Access to the world or permission | The existing-world seed guide |
Use a Generated Seed in a New World
The generator stops at the number; Minecraft creates the world.
After copying a value, open the world-creation screen in the edition and version you plan to play. Find its seed field, paste the number, review the other world settings, and create the world. Interface names and placement can change between versions and platforms, so use the controls shown by your current game.
- Pick Java or Bedrock and the exact game version before comparing results.
- Paste the number without adding spaces or punctuation.
- Keep the game mode, structures, and other world options you want.
- Create the world and explore the spawn before deciding whether to keep it.
- Save the seed somewhere private if you want to reuse this world later.
What Random Seeds Can and Cannot Tell You
A random seed is not a promise about what appears near spawn.
Minecraft combines the seed with edition, game version, world settings, and coordinates to generate terrain. A value from this page is not screened for villages, biomes, structures, rare loot, or attractive scenery. Two values that look similar as numbers do not imply similar worlds.
The same numeric input can produce different results when generation rules differ between editions or releases. A map made for another version may show incorrect coordinates even when the seed is entered correctly. Confirm the edition and version in the map or guide you use; this page does not promise cross-edition equivalence.
- It does not rank or filter seeds by terrain quality.
- It does not inspect a local save or recover an existing world's seed.
- It does not prove that a village or structure is near spawn.
- It creates the number locally; standard site hosting or analytics may still process page activity under the site's privacy policy.
Find or Recover an Existing Seed
Generating a new value cannot reveal the number behind a world you already play.
For a world you own, use the in-game seed information or the files and controls provided by your world or host. On a multiplayer server, follow its rules and get permission before analyzing it. A random seed generator cannot derive a seed from a server address, a screenshot, or a few coordinates.
The site's guide to finding a Minecraft seed compares Java, Bedrock, Realm, single-player, and server-owner paths. For a known seed and a village goal, use the village-finding guide instead of expecting this generator to show a map.
